1. What cookies and similar technologies are

A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on your browser or device. Cookies allow a site to recognize your browser, remember information about your visit, and understand how the site is used.

We also use technologies that work like cookies, including:

  • Pixels and tags: small pieces of code, sometimes embedded in a transparent image, that record that a page was loaded or an action was taken.
  • Local storage: data stored by your browser that persists between visits.
  • Software development kits and scripts: code loaded by our Site or by our vendors to provide features or measurement.

In this Policy, “cookies” refers to all of these technologies.

Cookies set by nationalbarndos.com are called first-party cookies. Cookies set by another company through our Site, such as an advertising or analytics provider, are called third-party cookies. That provider, not National Barndos, controls how those cookies work and what it does with the information.

2. Why we use them

We use cookies to:

  • Operate the Site and deliver pages, forms, and the on-Site chat window;
  • Remember your preferences and keep your session working as you move between pages;
  • Understand which pages and floor plans people view, so we can improve them;
  • Measure whether our advertising is working; and
  • Show you relevant advertising on other platforms.

3. Categories of cookies we use

Category What it does Can you turn it off?
Strictly necessary Required for the Site to function. Includes session management, security, load balancing, form submission, and the on-Site chat window. Analytics and performance Tells us how many people visit, which pages and plans they view, how they arrived, and where they leave. We use this in aggregate to improve the Site. Yes, through your browser settings and the provider opt-outs in Section 6.
Advertising and targeting Records that you visited or took an action on the Site so that we can measure our advertising and show you relevant ads on other platforms, including social media and search. Yes, through your browser settings, the platform ad settings and industry opt-outs in Section 6, and opt-out preference signals in Section 7.

4. Third parties that set cookies on our Site

The following third parties may set cookies or similar technologies when you use the Site:

Provider Purpose More information and opt-out
Google (including Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics, and Google advertising products) Tag management, analytics, advertising measurement, and remarketing Google privacy and terms and your Google ad settings
Meta Platforms (Facebook and Instagram) Advertising measurement and remarketing through the Meta Pixel Meta privacy policy and your Facebook and Instagram ad preferences
Our customer relationship management and messaging provider Powers our web forms, landing pages, and the on-Site chat window, and keeps your chat session working Contact us using Section 10 for details
Our website platform and hosting provider Site delivery, security, page building, and performance Contact us using Section 10 for details

We do not control third-party cookies. Their use of information they collect is governed by their own privacy policies. This list may change as we add or remove tools, and we will update this Policy when it does.

5. How long cookies last

  • Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser.
  • Persistent cookies remain on your device for a set period, which varies by cookie and provider, or until you delete them.

You can view and delete the specific cookies stored by your browser at any time using the browser controls described in Section 6.

6. Your choices and how to control cookies

Browser controls

Every major browser lets you see what cookies are stored, delete them, block third-party cookies, or block all cookies. These settings are usually found under Privacy, Security, or Site Settings. Blocking all cookies will prevent parts of the Site from working, including forms and the chat window.

Browser settings apply to that browser on that device only. If you use more than one browser or device, set your preference on each.

Advertising opt-outs

  • Digital Advertising Alliance: optout.aboutads.info
  • Network Advertising Initiative: optout.networkadvertising.org
  • Meta: adjust ad preferences in your Facebook or Instagram account settings
  • Google: adjust your Google ad settings

Opting out of interest-based advertising does not stop you from seeing ads. It means the ads you see are less likely to be based on your activity.

Mobile devices

iOS and Android both provide a device-level advertising identifier control that limits ad tracking across apps. See your device privacy settings.

7. Do Not Track and opt-out preference signals

Because there is no common industry standard for recognizing “Do Not Track” browser signals, we do not currently respond to them.

Where required by law, we honor recognized browser-based opt-out preference signals, such as the Global Privacy Control (GPC), as a request to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information and of targeted advertising for the browser or device from which we receive the signal.

8. Cookies and your privacy rights

Some information collected through cookies may be personal information under state privacy laws. As explained in our Privacy Policy, we do not sell personal information for money, but our use of advertising and analytics cookies may be considered a “sale,” “sharing,” or “targeted advertising” under some state laws. You may opt out through the methods in Section 6 or by sending a recognized opt-out preference signal as described in Section 7.

Cookies are not used to send you text messages, and cookie settings do not affect your text-messaging consent. Text messaging is governed by Section 5 of our Privacy Policy and Section 7 of our Terms and Conditions, and requires a separate affirmative opt-in.

9. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy as we add or remove tools or as legal requirements change. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and post the revised Policy on this page.
